Using Our Space

St John’s has three different spaces which artists, performers and musicians have used in diverse ways. We do not operate a traditional “dry hire” model, instead we take applications and asses each request individually. The spaces are very cost effective for emerging talent, and we encourage everyone who has a vision for how they could use the space to get in touch.

The works we display do not have to be traditional or religious. We have proposals for site-specific architectural inspired installations, for performance dance, sculptural works. We are open minded and creatively driven.

The Belfry

The belfry is a free exhibition space allowing artists to respond to the architecture and ambience of its location, within the context of this John Soane grade one-listed building, the local community and geography.

The North Gallery

The North Gallery is suitable for exhibitions and performances.

The Church

The main body of the church is an excellent performance space with very good acoustics for drama and music
