St John on Bethnal Green is celebrating!
Art, Film, Music, Dance – with contributions from friends we have made over the years.
Kicking off on Thursday 2nd August at 6pm you are invited to the opening of our artist group show with works by Rebecca Feiner, Arabella Lee, Pauline Thomas and May Ayres.
The Forecourt, Vestibule, North Gallery and Belfry will host –
Rebecca Feiner’s ‘If dreams reflect the past, hope summons the future’ – an interfaith and secular response to Jerusalem’s Wailing Wall and ‘‘Incorporeal Consciousness’ depicting a celebration of spirituality without boundaries.
Pauline Thomas’ ‘Devotional Journeys’ – three pieces weave together the flight of birds through different religious texts. (Featured Image)
May Ayres’ ‘Winning Hearts and Minds’ and ‘Proconsul’ – powerful ceramic sculptures ask the visitor to walk with victims of empire, unnamed and unknown.
Arabella Lee’s ‘Unhallowed’ – projected images, taken on many journeys, tell of children’s burial grounds in a specific landscape in Ireland, unmarked but for a few stones.
Exhibition open from 7th August until 6th September 12noon to 7pm.
Passengerfilms join us on Friday 3rd August, from 7.30pm for an evening of films exploring images of pilgrimage on screen.

Sunday 5th August, 6pm – Reflective Pilgrimage Evensong
Pilgrimage Songs performed by ‘The Barefoot Howlers’ as part of this special service.
