Belfry Exhibition: Miriam Sedacca – BERFREI, 4 – 14 August 2016
Berfrei Is a site-specific response to the unique space of the Belfry of St John on Bethnal Green. The exhibition draws upon the structural origins of the Belfry as a watch tower, from which its name is derived. Taking this association as a starting point, the exhibition considers the significance of spaces from which we look outwards, and of those which compel us to look inwards. Using a range of material textures alongside film works, Miriam Sedacca explores our sensory relationship to built environments. Sculptural pieces juxtapose solidity and ephemerality.
