Bitten by a Monkey and Julia Doyle, 13 November, 7.30pm

JULIA DOYLE will be performing a solo set on double bass and violin as part of a concert curated by London improvisers Bitten by a Monkey, who will also be performing.

Julia is a truly exemplary veteran not only of the improvised music scene, but of British music in general. In the early 1980s she was a founding member of The Guest Stars, and she has since gone on to perform with bands across all areas of music: tango with Los Mareados, chanson with The London Sparrows, jazz and improvised music with Ladies Free Association, Hyperbole Trio and Venus Edge. Her unique bass sound has accompanied solo artists from Maggie Nicols to John Hegley. In addition, Julia has long been involved in the field of music education, since the days when she co-edited the classic “Search & Reflect” text by pioneering educator/drummer John Stevens.
