CORVID-19 UPDATE – 12 JUNE 2020

We were reluctant to close our doors on Mothering Sunday this year as lockdown was announced – but recognised how important it is to keep the community safe – both our congregation and the wider community who would be affected by our actions. Since then Fr Alan has continued to say Morning Prayer every day in the closed church and a regular pattern of Masses – Sunday 10am, Tuesday and Wednesday 7pm as well as the major festivals. With any luck (!) you can join all of these Masses on our website here and, in addition, the information to join each service on zoom can be...

JOIN OUR STREAMED MASSES FROM ST JOHN’S

Until the church can safely reopen Fr Alan is celebrating the Mass in the closed church and streaming by Zoom. You are very welcome to join the Mass: Sunday at 10am, Tuesday at 7pm, Wednesday at 7pm. During August only the Sunday Mass will be streamed, and only on 2 and 9 August. There will be a non-eucharistic service on Sunday 16 and 23 August. Who would have imagined! THE FEAST OF ST JOHN BEFORE THE LATIN GATE

Wednesday 6 May 2020 IN the year 95, St. John, who was the only surviving apostle, and governed all the churches of Asia, was apprehended at Ephesus, and sent prisoner to Rome. The Emperor Domitian did not relent at the sight of the venerable old man, but condemned him to be cast into a cauldron of boiling oil. The martyr doubtless heard, with great joy, this barbarous sentence; the most cruel torments seemed to him light and most agreeable, because they would, he hoped, unite him forever to his divine Master and Saviour. But God accepted his will and crowned his desire; He conferred...

Saturday 28 March – Piano Day 2020: Elliot Galvin, Yshani Perinpanayagam & Kerry Yong, 7pm

Arctic Circle presents an evening of metamorphosis and transmutation as bird song is set free, insects dodge the hitting of a hammer and the shimmering colours of the piano keys combine in strange and addictive configurations.During this evening sit back, close you eyes and listen to a minimalistic masterpiece from Philip Glass (Metamorphosis), extracts from Messiaen’s Catalogue d’oiseaux (‘catalogue of birds’) and the sonic landscapes of jazz pianist and composer Elliot Galvin. On the 88th Day of the year we’d like you to join us to celebrate Piano Day, an evening of...
